Feature Attractions for 2014
3 unlimited vintage hydroplanes powered with a V-12 Allison airplane engines. These boats are over 30 ‘ in length. Boats of this type ran at the Buffalo Launch Club in the late 50s and early 60s and reach speeds of over 100 mph!

“Glassics” - Vintage fiberglass boats from the late 50’s featuring exotic fins and sculptured shapes dominant in car and boat designs of that era.
“Woodies” – A variety of wooden boats from the turn of the century to the 60’s when they began to be replaced by their fiberglass counterparts. A wide variety of manufactures will be represented such as Chris Craft, Century, Richardson, Penn Yan, and Garwood. These mahogany boats with their glistening finishes will dazzle spectators with their beauty and grace.
Auction Rides – You will have an opportunity to bid on a ride on a number of these wooden beauties – Auction rides will take place at approximately 3:30 pm.
Vintage race boats – Action is the theme for this event. The hydroplanes and Jersey Speed Skiffs will churn up the waters on the historic BLC course from 10 am until 3:30.
WNY Offshore Powerboat Association – Will have a display of 10 of these noisy and fast race boats. The evolution of this class of boats will be represented in the boats on display.
Hand to Hand Youth Program – Students from the classes being held at the Buffalo Maritime Center will display their boat building skills at the show. The program pairs an adult as a mentor for each youthful participant. Building a boat during the course of the day will be a main attraction. Proceeds from the show will be donated to the Maritime Center to expand the program this fall.

Kids Camp – where children can build and then float their boat in a
specially constructed water table

As you can see there is something for everyone. Come early and spend the day, as there is continuous action. Bring the family and take in the largest event of its’ kind held in the country at the historic Buffalo Launch Club on Grand Island.
Directions – Take exit 18B – Beaver Island and follow the parkway to Bush Road, Make a left turn and follow it to the entrance of the Launch Club.
